Hale Noa Cafe is a cozy little cafe located in Okinawa, between American Village and Araha Beach. The interior decor of the cafe is reminiscent of a French Boutique, paying homage to the owner’s love of “shabby chic” interior design. Serving both lunch and dinner, the menu at Hale Noa Cafe has a mix of American and Hawaiian styled favorites, such as their variety of Omlets, Loco Moco and Triple Poke Bowl.
When asked to design the logo for Hale Noa Cafe, the client showed us samples of “shabby chic” furniture and design, which is basically antique looking furnishings and decor. Along with the samples, we were also given some renderings of a vintage picture frame, which the client wanted to somehow incorporate into the design.
After giving it some thought, it was decided that the logo would be primarily hand drawn, using a traditional pen and ink style. Working backwards, we created the initial mock up of the design on the computer and then printed/traced it onto an illustration board, where we then began the process of rendering it in pen and ink. After photographing the finished illustration, we then went back to the computer, where we then altered the colors and finalized the logo design.
